OLSEN COTTAGE
After some 29+ years looking after guests, Jim and Carol Foster have handed the reins of Olsen Cottage to the next generation. The cottage is continuing to cater for holiday visitors, and is now available via Sykes Holiday Cottages at www.sykescottages.co.uk/

ABOUT US

Olsen Cottage was owned and looked after by Carol and Jim

Foster, who continue to live in the old village of Robin Hood’s Bay

where they settled in 1989. We welcomed guests to Olsen

Cottage from 1995 to 2025 and aimed for a cosy, homely

atmosphere in keeping with the character of the cottage. We

brought the facilities up to date with a new shower room and

kitchen units, complete with legible oven controls, and we

endeavoured to keep the cost of a holiday relatively affordable.

We remain proud supporters of the community life of the village.

Jim is Chairman of the Lifeboat Branch, and ran the local Folk

Club for over 20 years, as well as editing the village newspaper,

the Bayfair. Carol ran Ashleys gift shop on Chapel Street for the

same length of time and has been involved with various village

organisations over the years. She currently serves on the Village

Museum committee.

Nelson, our cat, sadly passed away in 2023 - a character, he is

sadly missed in Silver Street by locals and visitors alike.

THANK YOU TO PAST VISITORS

We would like to thank all our visitors over the last 30 years,

many of whom stayed regularly and became friends. We are still

here in the old village, contrary to rumours, and we would love to

see you when you come back to the “magic” village which is

Robin Hood’s Bay.
